So we have all seen the giant half-naked butts staring down at us from American Apparel's risque billboards around our cities, and perhaps we've gazed on in wonder, excitement, even fright. Or maybe you've driven through the streets of LA and noticed the huge "Legalize LA" sign posted atop the factory where all the magic behind this quintessentially LA company takes place.
But American Apparel is not just your typical trendy clothing company who successfully made stretch pants and leggings awesome again (thank god), as many may think. American Apparel is sweet-ass because they understand how ethical clothing manufacturing should work while the rest of world is busy trying to turn a profit at the expense of their workers. From paying their workers an average of $12.75 an hour, to providing full benefits, bike-loan and affordable lunch programs, and keeping full-time massage therapists on site for the sewers who work full days over sewing machines, American Apparel is committed to being good to their employees.
So, while we love their stretch pants and sexy adds, we especially love that they understand how fair businesses are structured.
